Get Involved!
One of the goals of this project is to get people involved! And you will undoubtedly ask; "how?" Well, even though it's an animated series, there's still plenty of opportunity to get involved, even if you can't model or animate! This thread will be the nerve center of the project, almost a sort of jobs board. Opportunities will arise from anything to writing an episode, using photoshop, animating, modeling, acting, critiquing and a whole lot of other things. And don't just let what's in this thread limit you. If you got something for us that you think would be of good use, post it or e-mail it to us! Now if it's something like "oh, use this cool ship I found on Bridge Commander" that will be regarded more as spam. We're looking for legit things to really help with all parts of production. If you have a script idea but can't write scripts, send us the concept and we'll see if it can be fit into the plot somewhere. If you do write a script and give it to us, the script MUST be in the proper scriptwriting format and it must be understood that though credit will be given to the original writer, the script could very well be re-written (possibly numerous times). But yeah, get involved!

Re: Get Involved!
ok good/ bit of the problem with editing this is that it's so short that a lot is used to set up later episodes, so don't expect much in the way of resolutions
Re: Get Involved!
I've read the script and i like it so far i have a few suggestions which i have added as notes to the document i shall send you it later after some more scrutinising.

Re: Get Involved!
heh, you shoulda seen what David picked out and he only made it half way through before I told him not to bother. Of course he had a good perspective because he used to be in the Navy
Re: Get Involved!
I haven't found anything with the script, but then it's the first not much to go wrong

Re: Get Involved!
and it's incredibly short. If anything, you'll probably just find dialogue inconsistencies. Like people don't talk the same throughout, I have a problem with keeping a character's dialogue consistent
Re: Get Involved!
Really? I didn't see much in it that needed changing. Was he making up a possible alternative plotline or summat?

Re: Get Involved!
no no, I'll forward you his messages, they pointed out some good things, but other things were confusing to him but that was because he didn't get to the end
Re: Get Involved!
Maybe he got carried away and forgot it wasn't his project

Nah, we were asked to contribute as much as we could. I suppose we had different agendas.

David Higgins wrote:
A few of issues:
1. Your battle scenes (Navy and Skreeg) are poorly constructed in that you treat them as 2 separate battle lines throughout. Once the Navy is amoung the Skreeg there aren't battle lines anymore - ie no front and back. The concept of the Skreeg command ship 'hidden' in the read and can't be seen because they are behind all the debris suffers in the same way.
2. A large portion of your dialogue is poorly constructed grammatically - not sure if this is by design!
3. You have a couple of unnecessary scenes (Zero heading to the surface of Durham after the attack is unnecessary - ie you could jump to the sickbay scene where they are doing an autopsy on Rebekahs body to see what was used. To show Zero's pain you can internalize it - similar to the 'private' scene James Kirk had after the death of his son in Star Trek. Remember, Zero is a ships captain. You don't get chosen to be a ships captain if you break down so easily....
4. You kept going on about the Skreeg ships having 'no design'. Everything has design - they may not have had any common traits or their design might have been somewhat random in nature but they all have design.
5. A lot of your command dialogue is a bit wordy. Commands are always short and to the point. In the din of battle, you don't have time to listen to 10-20 seconds of wishy washy dialogue when it can be said in 1 or 2 words.
Cheers
David
Darkwing wrote:Knew I'd get a good edit out of you! The thing with Zero is it's very important to show that he breaks down because he actually goes insane, but it's not actually really over the death of Rebekah, but over the death of Durham. Where Zero is one of the Progenitor's, his key is Durham (as is elaborated upon later on in the script) Zero is connected to the plant Durham. Thing is, he didn't know, so he goes through a bit of a transformation, finally making it such that he's not insane once he remembers everything. As for grammatically correct grammar, planned, yes and no, some of it's just bad anyways and some of it's intended to be bad (ie, Aiden and War-Storm). Someone else pointed out how Eraz'Tai flip-flops between correct grammar and incorrect grammar
Darkwing wrote:It is funny though how you see the scene where Zero goes to Durham as unnecessary, because I considered it one of the single most important scenes in the movie. There were others that weren't necessarily so important, but that one I personally thought ranked in top 5 most important scenes. But I forget what happens immediately after that scene, so I'll look at it. i don't know why if this project is dead, but I shall anyways
Re: Get Involved!
Like I said, he only got halfway, but even still, there was some good things flushed out
Re: Get Involved!
Points two and five are quite valid, to be fair. I didn't say much about the grammar or spelling, as I thought it would be nitpicky at such an early stage.
And yes, the On-surface fighting at the Skregg planet was a bit weird.
But meh.

Re: Get Involved!
Hay, if you want, since this will be animated, i have a good eye for picking details out of images that dont look right or soemthing is missing, i could be the Graphical Critic or something, also i can be a very tough critic, if you want me to, i will watch each episode before it goes out and be like a Critic, i would also be interested in writing a script or two, maby just putting in some idea's or something, just trying to be helpful.
Re: Get Involved!
Ok, i will just need links so i can review, as i dont like to look , Also i am not lazy, i just dont like to search for video's and episodes........unless i am bored, and i cant find anything to do.......
Re: Get Involved!
If you need, I'm great for vioces, or anything to do with a computer. And for the record, I'd love the oporunity to get involved in anyway that I can. I've seen almost everything Star Trek so far, from the Oiginal Series pilot "The Cage" with Captain Pike to theseries finale of Enterprise "These Are The Voyages...", And I've been looking for any chance to be a part of anything to do with Star Trek.

Re: Get Involved!
Well, just so you know this does not follow a starfleet captain, and also (i have seen most of them to....i really havnt seen The Original Series ones and the Animated Series, as they arent on anymore, and The Next Generation is shown in small blocks of the same 3 repeating episodes everyday, i mean the same 3 episodes, so yeah)
Also this is not official, so its not going to be on T.V.
Its also good to introduce yourself in geniral discussion before you just join in.

and it'd be great to have someone else on board! If possible, e-mail me (chrisacameron@ymail.com) with a sound clip of your voice
Re: Get Involved!
I got your e-mail, I may be able to get you to write some scripts or something in the future (if they're good enough of course). Do you have anything that you've previously written or something that I can take a look at?
