And anybody who tells me there is hope for the human race *cough*Toa*cough* can read this article a dozen times over
Re: Your opinion?
Ill admit, there are times when I have doubt. I saw this on the news today. Scary s**t.

Re: Your opinion?
Bah, that happens all of the time.
In New York City, people are getting mugged and all of the above in the street alleys in broad daylight, and the passersby just pretend nothing is going on. It's been like that forever.
The people there are so cold and self-centered. Yes, that's a generalization, but it's true for the majority of NYC's residents.

Re: Your opinion?
This is just such sad news. When men can't help their fellow men when they are dying in the middle of the f*cking street and just pretend nothing has happened, a line has been crossed. Society has just become too jaded toward these kinds of things. In an age of cell phones, someone definitely should have called EMTs before one and a half hours had passed.
As for my opinion on Shem's question, there are definitely still places where justice exists; small, close-knit communities. Definitely not Queens, NYC.

Re: Your opinion?
NYC? Don't surprise me... A thing that on the other day happened in Amora (Seixal, Portugal), was basically a group of black people and what we call "white niggas" (4 guys, I believe), tried to rob a old lady, and no one interviened, so...
I do have faith in humanity... But only in a very small % of it...

Re: Your opinion?
I know, it's downright horrible that something like this happens. With all these activists out there like Bono trying to save the world, something they always fail to see is that their own country is in some ways, just as bad off than those third world countries. You can't save the world until you save yourself. Same goes for the environment too. Until you treat your body right, you're not gonna treat the environment right
Re: Your opinion?
On the environment, apparently the Iceland volcano eruption has completely reversed all our efforts to lower CO2 output.
But here, it's this that needs to be said: social justice cannot be achieved without bullshit like this being corrected first.

Re: Your opinion?
indeed. it's the individual where it begins and if they can't correct the individual, they can't correct society.
Re: Your opinion?
Actually, the volcano only released 0.15 million tonnes of CO2, and saved 1.3 million by stopping all air travel over europe. So, it's actually one very green volcano.

Re: Your opinion?
And, if it wasn't for the fact that the volcano lies in iceland, the ground would also provide lots of fertaile material on which new plant life would grow in the long term, increasing the reducing effect even more.

Iceland will always be screwed. That's what you get when you don't pay off your debts to Dutchmen.

Damn midleading news sites. Damn them all. This is another problem: skewing facts for your own gainand then using them to mislead innocent, gullible people like me.

Just don't trust any of the american news sites... They're all trying to trick you into believeing their version of the story.

Re: Your opinion?
it's like that in Canada too. Media Studies was a fascinating course, if anyone is still going through school here and has the opportunity to take it, I recommend you do. There's a lot happening out there that we don't realize because we focus on the obvious problems and feel all smart and intelligent, it's a very complex world. But yeah, take the course or something similar if you get the chance
Re: Your opinion?
Here, media studies is completely different. Doen't look at stuff like that at all.

Re: Your opinion?
ah, that was art for us. Though media studies did talk about aesthetics impact on our psyche some, it;s something I might study at university if I have the opportunity to
