Habitat City

"Sure you want to do this son?" says Robert Yaklin.

"There was nothing out there in the country for me. Besides, rumours are rapant that the government is sending a ship to Earth. Wouldn't you want to see Earth?" says Jacob Yaklin.

"I would rather stay here. Still, I respect your decision. I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too Dad."

At that Jacob gets out of the vehicle and strides into the recruitment office. He enters and sees a gruff looking man. He looks up, winces at Jacob's scar, then asks what he wants.

"I've come to sign up for the military." replies Jacob.

"Planning on being a soldier?" asks the man.

"No, I'm not fit for that. I was wanting to be a computer technician on a ship. I'm real good with computers."

"We'll see. Fill out these forms and we'll get back to you. Sit down and fill them in or fill'em out at home. Whatever you do think hard on this."

"Like we ever see action?" asks Jacob.

"Good point, still think hard on it."

Jacob takes the forms, fills them out, and turns them in.

"Thanks...Jacob?"

"Yes."

"Nice to have you on board."

The man shakes Jacob's hand. He tells Jacob not to worry and that they'll contact him.

Jacob exits the building. He looks up to the sky. It was bright blue that morning, a hopeful sign of things to come. He hops into his father's vehicle. Jacob wakes his father up by nudging him.

*pop* "Huh, wuh? Oh hey Jacob. Ready?"

"Yeah. I'm ready."

"Then lets get you an apartment"

Jacob and his father drive away. Hopefully by this time tommorrow Jacob would be back.
