Begynderdansk Empty Begynderdansk

Post by Shemuel 2010-03-10, 16:05

When the school library was being cleared up recently, I came across an old red book. After a moment of confusion, I realised it was a Danish learner's textbook (without any other language in it).

Therefore, I am going to torture Thingy by posting pictures of it.

Just try to avoid the danish dialect. The language itself sounds like someone throwing up, then gurgling the results. When you add the dialect... It's just... Pain in sound format.

That book could come in handy if you want to learn scandinavian though. You see, Danish is like a dialect of a huge language. Once you learn it, it will be very easy to learn Swedish and Norwegian. I can safely say that i can hold a conversation with danes and norwegians. It would be a little difficult since some of the words are so warped that they barely resemble their swedish counterparts, but it's doable.

The closest thing I've ever come to Swedish, or Norwegian, is Finnish. (Yes, I know they're nothing alike, but at least the countries are close to each other. LOL)

My biological father, and my mother used to speak it to me when I was very little. Well that, and my grandmother speaks it all of the time. (I'm only around her when I go down to Florida)

I only know how to say I love you, good night, see you tomorrow, and a few cuss words. Hehe.

The most I know of Finnish is from Sonata Arctica and Korpiklaani (bands)

Sonata Arctica, they're a good band. I actually forgot about them, until you made mention.

We started talking about Finnish. Sonata Arctica is a Finnish band.

The image is from a Danish textbook.
