The Anti-Technological Disorientation Pact
Have you ever seen your parents struggle to figure out how to work an Ipod, program a DVR, or even operate a computer?
They knew how to use the technological products from their time, but now they have become technologically disorientated.
Technological Disorientation, is a heartbreaking condition that has plagued millions of people across the globe.
It is up to us to help stop this viral, psychological ailment from penetrating into our generation!
We must keep up to par with the technological world around us.
I for one, will not be the old guy that doesn't know how to pilot a hovercraft! or be able to spy on my kids while they're in their virtual social networking worlds!
(That is, unless I remain single, and live the rest of my retired life as a hermit in a trailer park in the Arizona desert.) (Always wanted to do that...)
Who's with me?

Re: The Anti-Technological Disorientation Pact
Keep up with technology throughout your life, even as an old fart.
He has a classic case of Technological Disorientation. LOL
Yeah? Well, my dad isn't even 40 yet, and he can't even run windows update, or cancel a recording timer on our DVR.Darkwing wrote:hey, my parents do a very good job of keeping up with technology and they're in their late forties

Re: The Anti-Technological Disorientation Pact
too bad, Dad understands the concept behind HDTV, Blu-Ray, Computers, al kinds of stuff. My mother uses the stuff, but keeps up enough for her needs, she's one that doesn't use tech like that much anyways, not her interest field, which is OK, it's good to have some peopel who aren't over-run by nerdiness and stuff
Re: The Anti-Technological Disorientation Pact
Completely true. My dad can run a word processor, and can access email and read news on Opera. But that's it.
My mum I think is just in a daze generally, so I can't tell.

Re: The Anti-Technological Disorientation Pact
It took me a year just to get him off IE. Still, he cowers when he has to save passwords, or update the anti-virus.
He just doesn't understand that computers aren't as fragile as you think they are.
If you can read, there's way less chances of hosing the thing.

Re: The Anti-Technological Disorientation Pact
Other than facebook, my mom knows only two things about computers. Jack and s**t. And Jack left town.
As for my dad, he's pretty good with computers. He works for a courthouse and updates the servers there.

Re: The Anti-Technological Disorientation Pact
LOL, you fortunate man!
BTW, my mom is still one of those moms that thinks that all social networking sites are evil.
For example, you know how the media always depicts facebook as a sexual predator haven, which it is, but what fail to realize is that many parents have no idea how it works.
It's not like some stranger can just start interacting with you, and completely become part of your life, unless you accept their friend invite. LOL
The only real way someone is going to snagged by a predator, is if they befriend strangers, and if they're idiots. (same thing basically)
I wish I could engrave this statement into some girls heads:
"The 30 year old guy you are sex chatting with does not love you, but rather, he just wants to get in your pants and carry you off to Mexico."
Idiots!

Re: The Anti-Technological Disorientation Pact
Completely true. Although I think that some of the locals are often just as much of a threat to some girls. We have creepy single 40 year-old farmer types here.

Uhura - "I'm impressed... For a moment there I thought you were just a dumb hick who only has sex with farm animals.
Kirk - "Well, not only..."
Imagine Kirk as a facebook predator... Not so far fetched....

No, I accept that. A lot of them are rather weird and inbred.

LOL...
Anyways, my dad is one of those great users of Google... His work require that, as he needs to search products and prices and compere them, to then go get them to the other offices... He is also a great MS Office user (but he couldn't use OO.o that much well)... And he is also one of those huge Outlook fans...
My mom... Well she can go to youtube and use google... nothing more on pc's...
VCR's are with my dad... Multimedia HDD's are with me, and domestic appliance (Laundry and stuff) are with my mom, so... nothing's wrong...
