Re: Favorite Childhood toy
Back in egypt (before i was 7) i think i had small melon head (or was it pumpkin head?) doll. It's not very popular with boys, since it's basicly a girl's toy... But my parents were very open minded and didnt try to interfere. Other than that, i had a crapload of toys when i was a kid, heh. My aunt used to take me to a local toy store called ''Barakat'' and let me go nuts every week. But mom says i loved that doll, used to take it with me everywhere, even had a name for it ''Koromba'', egyptian for lettuce.
But when i grew up, my favorite ''toy'' was a gamecube. It's still around here somewhere, i've been wanting to dust it off and play it, you know, for old times sake, but i havent had the time. And the controllers are damaged, i doubt they still sell them... Unfortunately. I'm not going to give up on it though, it got me through some very rough patches, and i'm going to get it up and running again one way or another. I'm not leaving it behind when i move out either, could probably be a cheap way to keep myself entertained when i go to university or whatever i do after moving out.

Re: Favorite Childhood toy
What? You lived in Egypt??? Shocker....
A melonhead? Wow! And I thought I got bored? LOL
I remember the ole gamecube. Just about all of my friends who had them have pawned them off for wiis. They were fun though. Plus, you could hook up your gameboy to em.
Oh, ok, my childhood..... I have to dig back there again....
I played with legos and hotwheel cars a lot. I also killed ants and what I called lovebugs for fun. (I'm still not sure what kind of bug they were, but they were black and red, quite pretty actually. Oh, and they could fly too. They were always screwing each other, so I called them lovebugs.) I usually killed them with sticks or a magnifying glass. For ants, I would usually squash their abdomen and watch them squirm and suffer, for lovebugs, I would decapitate them, and separate their heads and bodies into separate piles. Or, I would puncture their bodies with needles until they died. That, or I would drown them with a concoction of water, soap, and dissolved cough drops. (usually Halls, cherry flavor) The sugar in the mixture lured them, the soap got them stuck in it and helped drown them. This also worked quite well on ants. I also sometimes flushed them down toilets while still alive when I found them in the house. (Looking back, I realize how disturbing I was as a child. I actually wasn't that vicious though. I was pretty lighthearted when it came to most things. I was extremely shy, and I did a lot of daydreaming. The shyness started ending when I hit 6th grade though. My mom always said that I "came out of my shell", or something like that.)
Anyways, with the hotwheels, I would ram them against each other, or I would build lego towers and have them run into them until they were broken back into individual pieces.
I remember getting big, thick, limbs off of my magnolia tree, and using them to wack the overgrown shrubbery in the back of the yard. I also sharpened them, and made throwing spears. I actually got pretty good with them, even though they weren't that sharp.
I wrote fictional stories in my notebooks, I drew pictures of underground bases, space ships space weapons, etc.
I even created my own language, called "extoc", and I made a writing form also. (Can't remember diddly squat though)
I remember playing baseball, football, and badminton in the back yard. (Mostly baseball though)
Oh, and I also remember creating massive battle scenes with my lego sets. That, and hanging my sisters barbie dolls on doorknobs with yarn. I'm pretty sure I even melted one of them once. LOL
Now that I've mentioned yarn....
I also remember creating elaborate booby traps for people that have decided to enter my room. If you opened the door too wide, something would come swinging at you.
Oh, and I just remembered!
Paper airplanes!
I was obsessed with those!
I even checked out books from the library on how to make some amazingly complex models. I made alot of my own designs. When I was 9, I was grounded from making them for a year, because I accidentally hit my sister in the eye with one.
Oh, and I had a PS1 back then too. Me and my sister's favorite game was "CTR Crash Racing". We were so awesome at that game!
(It's like mario cart, but way better)
Actually, I still have my PS1, and I do play it every once in a while. Still fun.
In 03 I got an xbox. Halo was the first thing I ever played on it. And, probably the best thing I ever played on it.
We used to have parties at my house to play. We'd have 4 xboxes hooked up to each other, all in separate rooms.
LOL, the days before xbox live...
I still miss those parties. That's something I'll be able to tell my kids.
Anyways, that's all I can think of as of right now.
