Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
Now, you can own your very own sex machine for only $7,500!
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/01/10/2788991.htm
Pretty weird eh? But, we all figured this invention would be in the market sometime soon.
Now all of the freaks that don't need to reproduce have something to do. XD
BTW, what are we going to call the people that are only attracted to sex bots? robosexuals?
Eww, weird......

What the frak... That's just disgusting... But also quite exciting. It's a step forward to a true self aware AI. But untill we figure out how to make quantum computers, we're not going to be seeing any self aware AI's.

Well... There's no need in Quantum Computers... In 2020's we should have enough processor power in a single computer to make that...
And to create an self aware AI it would need 20 years since the start of their creation... The process of them to learn is very slow compared to humans...
Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
It probibly is self awear, like data from star trek only less sufisticated, it is probibly only awaer of the, you know, anyway, as data says "i am fully functional" to the borg queen
Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
LOL, I bet some weirdo out their has made a mod on one of those things to make it say that.

I am hoping you werent serious about the first part...
@JBP Yeah, it would take ages to make a fully functional AI, and even then it probably wouldnt be as good as a real human. We can try to replicate nature, but it'll be hundreds of years before we can make things as good as nature.
But wouldnt it take a crapload of processing power and the like to even make a semi good self aware AI?

Well us military AI's are self awear, one can fly, by itself, identify a target and destroy it without humen intervention.

Well... there is still that pc that won the World Chess Champion in 5 minutes... You see, that isn't self awareness... they usually program the bot to react when he sees things similar to enemies... But it can also aim at harmless civilians... It's just, they program it to analise and then choose the best tactic to react... Of course that they start shoting things at the bot, the bot would think: They're enemies indeed...
There's the obvious, and the pc's better react to the obvious than to the less obvious...
Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
No, they're not. They are controlled by humans on the ground. They're not even virtual inteligence, it's basicly a remote controlled toy for adults. Which also happens to be armed with 2 hellfire missiles capable of killing dozens of people.
The artificial inteligence we have today can be described as virtual inteligence (VI), it doesnt really think like a true AI or a sentient organic being would, it just acts on preset conditions.

There is actually a small group of experimental bots, somewhere in Area 51 (Don't come with aliens to this chat, ok?), that do have virtual inteligence (as you described thingy), but they're only in the phase of experimental bots...
Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
Yeah, I don't think they'll be able to make something as smart as a human in our lifetime, or even our children's lifetime.
Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
Well, they went from muskets to Remote Control Hellfire missles in 100 years.......Horses to cars in 10 years......um gliders that only fit 2 people to luxary jet liners. Buggies that cant float to those floating tour boat things.
Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
First they would need to find a way to posses faster than the human brain, then they would need to send and receive data faster than the nervous system

Correction, from horses to cars in more than 5,000 years. And from bows to remote controlled hellfire missiles in probably more than 10,000 years. Human technological evolution takes a very long time. It is however speeding up, and we can probably expect a working AI in 3 lifetimes, maybe more.

You know, the usuall computer does receive and send data at the same speed as the human brain, since the first digital pc... Now, to be intelligent, there's no need (yet) of a human brain more powerfull than ours... If we exclude feelings, we can use a processor with half of the power of a human brain... But then it wouldn't be human... but it could be inteligent...
Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
Funny thing, Japan was trying to do the same, except with life-size dolls without AI.

Speed isn't the problem. Actually, they already have supercomputers that can process way faster than the human brain.Leach54 wrote:First they would need to find a way to posses faster than the human brain, then they would need to send and receive data faster than the nervous system
It's the programming. LOL
How do you teach a machine how to think? It's hard to do that when humans don't even know exactly how human thought works.
Many advancements will have to be made in understanding ourselves before we can create other intelligent life. We have to "crack" the human brain.
BTW, we are starting to get good in that department though.

That, and thought to speech technology is out and working too!
^ I know, holy god!
More info on that: http://www.thinkartificial.org/machine-interfaces/audeo-neckband-neural-interface/
The same technology is being developed for patients that are mute.
Interesting, ay?
Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
And then there's the issue, why do we create more intelligent life? There is no doubt that an AI would cost mountains of reources in both manpower and money. You'd need a good reason to make one, other than just curiosity.

Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
Just about every modern, groundbreaking technology is created for warfare.
Then, it is innovated to benefit society/make money. (lol)
So we'll probably see something like Eagle Eye first.

Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
and let it go out of control? like in the movie?
theologically speaking i dont think its possible, from a technological point of view it seems well... its going to take a very long time, it tooks humans ages from when existed to think bout then to try and develop it then it gonna take lot more time to actually do it... it takes too much time, i say wait till we got like terabyte memory cards...

Adapted from Darkjedi, the problem's not the space, it's the programming.

What?! I thought the max was 1 TB hard drives. Or at least in the civilian sector.

who would use that? to be honest it looks fake. i meant memory CARDS not STICKS memory cards is what givers your computer RAM so what i meant by 1tb memory card would be 1tb RAM

Yeeeaaahhh....no.
Right... Memory Cards are those things you put on your digital camera or on your psp so you can store things in it... Like... photos, music, movies, even games... RAMs are small boards equiped with integrated circuits that store information for a limited time...
See the diference?
Re: Welcome To the 21 Century: Sex Bots
Dang it, I knew that.
They aren't out yet, but they are coming soon.
