Snow, Snow and more, Snow
I was thrilled that it was snowing am i now, NO. Though knowing how much it snows even though most of the snow i get is mostly the crappy snow that falls apart in your hand. I thought that was how it would be. NOPE, i was wrong, so ya, right now, i am in just north of Pittsburgh PA, we usually get a combine snowfall of 2-4 Inches a year, right now there is 12 inches on my deck, and 16+ in my yard. My street is on a hill, and we dont usually get alot of cars, 4-5 per day (even though we are off a highway) so we got sleds and sleded down the hill. After that, 5 cars got stuck, and 1 skidded down the hill and went into my neighbors yard, they got out though and they were fine. (though i was happy they went in my neighbors yard, we dont like them. My dog is 9 years old and loves the snow, so we let her out, she is short for her age, about 2 feet, when she got in the yard whe was half covered by snow, i couldent see her legs, but she hated it. Hmmm, anyone else got any snow stories right now.
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
We were supposed to get a terrible snowstorm so my school got dismissed early. And guess what happened? Nothing! Ironically, I live in PA, too, just a different part.
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow

Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
ha ha ha, 16 inches, that's always fun, we usually get at least one or two storms a year with that much snow. And I didn't thin this was an El Nino year, but I'll do some research

Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
I woke up, there is about 19 Inches of snow, that is alot for Pittsburgh. My dog was litterally swimming in snow.
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
it's when a massive current in the southern hemisphere changes, and it basically causes freak weather, generally along the lines of weather reversal

Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
no, geography does not. Geography covers land masses and the rocky parts of the earth. how does geography cover oceanography or hydrology or biology? (earth sciences include the study of planets and a planets life forms (if its a life bearing planet))(geography is a big part of earth science but not all of it)

Are you confusing geography with geology?

Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
no. Geography is a huge part of earth science bit not all of it. Anyways, at this point it doesn't matter. what does matter is the snow on the ground (or fires on the ground if you are in Australia) and the fact that it is el nino year and this one is predicted to be the most severe.

Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
Geography is an earth science, i would know, last year in school we studies Geography, Geology is the study of rocks (i think anyway)
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
We're straying off the topic a bit with this talk of geology and geography aren't we?
Well, it really snowed overnight here. It's almost knee deep now.

Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
Well, technically they are still on topic, both Geo's are on the topic of earth, and snow falls under that topic, and also right now it is waist deep here, and if anyone comes to western PA dont drive, very dangerouse, schools are already cloased for monday and it is 9:42 P.M. Saturday here. they havent even plowed most roads, the plows are actually getting stuck and it is so bad that the city has issued a state of emergency. Only emergency vehicals can be on the road. (Unless you have an SUV that has 4wd and looks like an emergency vehical) But just a question, why would you drive a voltswagon beetle or a minivan in this, saw alot of people get stuck in those cars, couldend stop, dont want to get rear ended
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow

Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
Exactly, hmm i am estimating about 16-19, in my yard, 24-30 just becasue i live on a hill and it creates little snow dunes. My school never closes though, the hill can be a sheet of ice and my school is on a hill with a road that turns and twists going up a hill, go up that in a schoolbus when it is icy, so i am sitting at 6:00 A.M. waiting for it to be canceled, Pittsburgh Public schools are canceled, waiting to see my school district come up. I see every school closed, and i mean every school, we get at lease 400 closings and my school, it gets to "N" North Alligany. (My school is North Hills district, not giving the specific name of the school) and it goes from North Alligeny to North Hills because there are no otrher north schools between N and H, so i am watching, and it goes from North Alligany......North (and i am anticipating North Hills)....North....(Come on, so much suspence)....NORTH.......(COME ON BE NORTH HILLS BE NORTH HILLS).....North Side Area Schools-Closed
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
All schools are cloased in my area tomarrow. But the news just said 29-30 inches are on the ground right now and starting tuesday there will be another 4-8 inches, i hate my life.......
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow

oh, trust me i diddnt think i would either, i and my mother both diddnt last 10 minuets. My father diddnt mine, he is just like that. and my sister......
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
30 in = 2'6" (2 feet, 6 inches) of snow... that's a pretty decent amount there. you sure you'd want that much? That makes almost all schools in the area effected close, business close, putting a lot of people out of a job till the snow gets down to a more reasonable level..Leach54 wrote:i love the winter. We're still drowning in snow... It's actually at knee depth at some places. It keeps getting into my pants, kins of hard to keep your legs warm when they keep getting dipped in snow.

in Washington dc, my sis got 20 inches, but they're only equipped for about 3-4.
Last year, we had a record snowfall of 156" of snow in one year, then we got 56" of rain less than a month after the snow dissipated. I love WI

Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
I have a 6-day weekend!!! 3 days off due to snowing, 2 for the weekend, and 1 for Presidents Day!
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
We got about 6 inches of snow/ice/sleet last week, and we're going to get more next week. Oh, and we've already had a blizzard, back on Christmas day. That was around 16 or 17 inches. All of the roads were closed, and I had to sleep on a church floor. LOLEvil Person wrote:I was thrilled that it was snowing am i now, NO. Well, right now we still have about 2 fleet of snow, and it is suppost to snow untilll wednesday next week
Re: Snow, Snow and more, Snow
How on earth did you manage to spell 'feet' as 'fleet'? The 'l' is nowhere near near the f, e, or t keys.
