Sooooo, What do you want?

It has come to my attention that several users would like to see a free for all style, RTS implemented in this forum, instead of just DOF and the gathering, one for the members of this forum to play. So, what does everyone want, meaning do they want one or not?

I would play that. Actually, those kind of RP's are my fav. Umm I could go for any thing. Maybe anchiant magic? Or anything really.

Yeah, me too. And i think making one here would be better for activity since all the regular members will have easy acces to it.

And make it a sci fi RPG, maybe another unrestricted universe, like the gathering. Or maybe a text based freelancer RPG?

i kinda dont want it based off of a movie, video game, or that sorta thing.

Well, the freelancer universe is quite open... And i think we could use some of the in game mechanics, like trading goods and raw materials.

And besides, making a completely new universe would take alot of time and effort.

i think a mash-up would work, but the thought of something fresh would be nice, it would just lack some pictures. I'm going with sci-fi because they're the most popular here, and it would have the statistical side and story side like DOF has

This is true. BTW I do agree its a pain in the ass (SW:DOF that is.) it was good for a few minutes but it decayed.

I think it should have the same format as DW the ship that doesn't exist (there seems to be some confusion)

What do you mean by free-for-all RTS?

i mean we can use stuff from different sci-fi universes. and it'd be like dof, production sections, factions and whatnot

Oh. So basically the same thing as DOF but with different universes?

P.S. Can we adjust the speed because it could get a little bit boring if we have to wait in slipspace for more than a day...

So if its like DOF how to you plan on navigating around certain problems?

well, the only real problems with DOF is idiots running around. I can control that here with no need for accountibility. and yes, the pace would be quickened, and with a larger community base, things will happen quicker and more will happen in general. If we did do one, I might be inclined to one that's our own creation, our own ships, tech etc

If you include ship building/customization I'm in! First I must learn how to get money....

I didn't mean to make you mad I just misunderstood what you wrote...

oh, sorry, didn;t mean to sound cross, just getting annoyed with repeating myself. things like making money would be covered in the rules and guidelines of the game, that's what I meant by "they'd be written out"

Oh I just took it as they would be "taken out"...my bad...I was confused...

just a suggestion but maybe you could so this with a um.. HOMM style to it, apart buying your ships managing your rescources and such you can get hero vessels or your own unique hero vessel...

If I'm going to play this, I wouldn't want it like DOF... x.x hate games like that... the tedious management of getting resources, keep track of everything you own... would be just so annoying DX I liked the Darkwing: Ship that doesn't exist.. RPs like that I'll do. This also kind of explains why I never played DoF when it went over to the new forum.. I barely played it here to begin with..

oh, i misunderstood you then when you said you wanted to play a game like the gathering, because the gathering is like that too. I'm not setting up like the DW Rp as only a couple people could play because unless you start from the beginning, there's no good place to jump in if you're new. A game like DOF let's you join in at anytime. Except I think you weren't around for the story component of DOF, you were there when it was simply statistical I think

Yeah... I was RP'ing that thing to death. I'm actually quite sure that you can get the same RP value from a game like DF as you'd get from the DW RP

so, this seems like it could be a somewhat popular idea, so for the sake of humouring this, what would everyone like to play? An established Sci-Fi verse (ie Star Trek, Star Wars etc) a mash-up (different sci-fi verses ie The Gathering) or one where we make our own stuff, ships, tech etc? All are equally as hard so don't worry about that.

How about mixing together mash up and stuff we make up ourselves? You know, kind of like SW:DF but with alot more freedom.

No, I strictly hate stuff like that... it was boring... most are for me.. and to correct the constant questioning, have someone do recaps in another post, so people would look at that instead of asking someone..

The only resource based kind of games I like are flashed based and on a RT schedule..

if you remember about the recaps, we did that, and still people didn't know what was going on. DOF isn't strictly statistical, it's story telling style as well. You should at least visit the site and gather correct info before shutting it down, because you're missing some of the key facts and your being close minded and little.

*facepalms* Fine.. just to amuse you, I'll go visit the site when I get a chance... I'm telling you though, I don't like RPs like that.. I liked the ones like the DW one..

DOF is both is what I'm telling you. When you last saw DOF most likely (unless you've been there in the last month) it was purely statistical, now there is the same style story element that DW had. Now save for some idiots running around, DOF would be a pretty good game. I'm not saying you have to like DOF or anything, but I'm saying give it a chance because you're not. And I hate people that don't give things a chance with no real reason. It mkes the person very pathetic and unworthy of life IMO

I'm not as closeminded as I seem right now, but once I look over it and whatnot, I'll think about it.. It's just that in the past, I've fallen asleep trying to play one of these on another forum. I try to give things a chance, it's what makes everything worth it, and you never know, you might like it.. I'm just being pessimistic right now...

that's better. i was sure hoping you weren't a miserable failure to life like 99% of the population is. I'm not saying you will like it, but I dunno what you've played before, if it was purely statistical or had some story telling element to it. Once the pace quickens (ie travel times reduced) then it'll make things even better, cause I'd change some stuff up here that isn't on DOF

meh, go to the gathering for that, i don't want this to be a complete rip-off of the gathering. i'm saying either an already established universe or one made entirely up by us (which might be easier cause I won't have to scavenge the net for pics and stats)

And let me guess, you're part of that one superior percent? Just makes you weaker in my book...

Anyways, you're right, we'd be ripping off the gathering completely if we did a sci fi mash up. I think each faction leader should get to make up his/her own faction.

not necessarily, I try stuff as much as I can to a degree, more then the general population, but I'm not enough to be a part of that one percent. I'm always amazed at how you guys act like I treat myself like I'm God, when time and time again, I prove that I'm not.
