Forumotion has pulled a fast one

As you've all probably noticed, there are these frickin large ad blocks everywhere on the forum. this is the doing of forumotion, our oh so wonderful glitch happy forum host. anyways it's somewhat ridiculous, and apparently it would cost about 73 dollars to have the ads removed for members only. We used to have the option of ads being for guests only, but now, this is a sign of how much forumotion sucks and how desparate they are (despite the fact they probably don't make money from the ads, google probably does). anyways, read some more:

and for the record, with all the server issues and glitches forumotion has, I'm about ready to pack up and go. i'm really contemplating moving SGC and DOF to different forum hosts.

Well, i guess they need money to make ends meet or something. But it's still stupid, really stupid.

yeah, but they have a whole paying community, and even those paying for ad free sites aren't etting them. i'm now playing with forumer as a host and I'll let you know what I come up with

well damn, i missed a lot in 1 day. it wont bother me much, i dont mind ads.

hm, well the debate is getting hotter now at forumotion and I'm there doing my small part to get rid of the ads or at least have more control over them. but seriously, I've been looking into forumer and it looks less glitchy and more organized/stylish

awww, they looked to be good, until i found out you had to pay for the chatbox to work

Try zetaboards.. though we'd have to implement a chatbox that I couldn't use, but atleast it's less glitchy.. or so I've heard.

hmmm, users can select from installed skins, that's kind of cool

egads!!! it uses CSS and doesn't have a WYSIWYG feature or upload pre-installed skins feature!

dangit! i wish i had found these guys like 2 years ago, otherwise i would've made this forum there. i highly doubt you would all want to re-register at a new version of the forum!

Yeah I am, but apparently the proxy system was recently implemented. Someone kept going to some...questionable sites lets say.

Yeah. I've talk to the higher ups, but they said as long as the new students are immature as usual, the proxy system will stay up.

perhaps you can get them to unblock the one site(?) also, our cries of ads have been heard and the FM people have removed it. though i still like the other peoples better

easier to use and much much better design stuffs. plus less clunkiness on the admin side
