i got bored

last night i got bored and just started making sprites for some reason what do you think of these ?

nice! are they for BM2?

what wrong with it?

nothing but you can still try to make new versions of it , well i will try to make a few versions of you avatar so you will see what i mean when i say upgrade .

ok whatever i just a photoshop shape i got and then just played around with the graphics

done i made 5 versions now i have to remember my password at photo-bucket

well i don`t every time i upload it the head is smaller , if i can pass over this then i will have the tux avatar

ok i made a upgrade to my tux avatar , and because you only know how the raw version looked you can see the upgrade , now it is better this way , if you like this penguin you can find more on the web just search for tux .

well maybe you can use paint.net because i think is better then photoshop

i dont use photoshop any more my trial ran out i use fireworks 2004 or something mx i think its not great but it does the basics

Photoshop is better than paint.net -if you can get it for free.

i did have full for a while and then it just stoped working

Try to add details to the alpha channel manually, because on the last one, the letters shouldn't be beveled, and they are... On the ships, try and use more the gradient tools, because the nacelles look like rounded paralelepipeds, and they are cylinders (meaning: Just gaussian bluring it all won't do it nicely).

Oh, and on the Declaration class ship, where you added the XI nacelles, you can clearly notice that the nacelles were lighted in a different moment than the saucer, and that shouldn't happen. Try and merge the schematics and then build a common alpha channel. That'll make the surface of the ship more uniform.

That space station of yours, as I already said, has the letters beveled, and they shouldn't be... Besides, let me show you something:



Don't you think they are a little too similar? They probably come from the same schematic, except Vex chose to ignore that empty ring...

I've got a solution: Go here and scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you'll find something called the "Toolkit freebies". With them, you can easily create your own design. Oh, and be sure to credit Vance, I heard somewhere he can be a pain when people don't credit him...

yeh those kit things are always good but there are always aoriginals series i prefer the later designs

Josh, you're paying too much attention to less important details... I was like that as well, until I saw some alpha channels by Vex... I'll post them here for you to see...

Did you notice the simpleness of the alpha channel compared to the complexity of the ship? try to do something like that, because the objective isn't the big sprite...

im not sure i can do that i only have fireworks at the moment

In fireworks, I don't know... In photoshop, you go to the layers panel and there's a tab called "channels". You can create as many as you want... (If it doesn't appear, try the menu "Windows", probably one of the options will be channels)...
