How would you improve on BM1?
I do not want this to seem like I am trying to direct the project. What I hope this thread will do is give the BM3 team an idea of what people liked about BM1, and what they would like to see in BM3.
I would like this thread to be a kind of public feedback about what we want to see in BM3. We, the public, obviously have no say on what the BM3 team does with BM3 as it is their project. But I feel it would be a great service to the Bm3 team to see what we, the public, want to see improved in BM3 that we did not have in BM1.

EXAMPLE:
Example wrote:I really liked the game play of BM1. I don't think the story is really as important as improving the game play. Games like Starcraft prove this point because while Starcraft's story was good, it was it's solid gameplay mechanics that kept people playing for years to come (I mean years, have you seen battle.net lately?!)
In BM1 I liked the core mechanics of it, but I felt it to be too easy. Not challenging enough. I would have liked to see more of a challenge in the system because then it will feel even better when you finish it. I hear a lot of people saying they want more species and such, but I don't think that is really quite neccessary. I think what is neccessary is to think of this as it is. The Star Trek mirror universe. I find it hard to believe that if I attack an outlying Klingon planet I won't have the entire Klingon fleet either counter-attacking or raiding my planets. Likewise, I feel all the major groups are a little too easy to overthrow. With the Cardasians having three or more starbases defending their home world, why is that the Romulans only have one?
The bottom line:
If I could remake BM1...
(1) I would make some kind of requirement before you can buy your own planet. Such as having to earn an insane amount of cash to buy a planet (or at least buy the equipment and move in a population) for each planet.
(2) I would make it harder to either A: Amass a fleet large enough to wipe out an empire, or B: make enemy empires a lot tougher.
(3) I would make enemy raids on your planets far more severe, as I feel an invasion should be an all-or-nothing endeavor. Not wave attacks.
(4) I would make some kind of extremely difficult end-game challenge, like a Borg invasion once you conquer most of the galaxy. (See http://www.kongregate.com/games/ZigZaGame/the-great-war-of-prefectures for an example of how this makes an ordinary game extraordinary)

Re: How would you improve on BM1?
Hmmm, improve on BM1, thats going to be hard, lol
1. The races should not just declare war on one planet, the whole govenrment
2. The game needs to be more chalenging
3. It would be nice to add ground battles, like to take a planet you need to attack a city or something
4.make the AI a little more smart
5. my units wont attack my enemies in there systems
like if i attack erath my units will fire on earth once and stop, even if being fired apon!
6. Some ship sises should be refined.
7.Graphics coulde be better
8. Intro is boring
i will stop there for now, i will brain storm

Re: How would you improve on BM1?
I would also make it so that some planets were forbidden, and unihabitable*
Re: How would you improve on BM1?
I though you already where familiar with the EDIT button...
I wouldn't change it... I would make a mod out of it, like a BMIV or such...
(BTW... BMIV is MINE! MIIIIIINE!... Just joking, free to do one, but I would prefer if you did BMV in fact...)

Re: How would you improve on BM1?
he posts on forums like hes talking in a chatbox. and the double accounting was just plain idiotic, he pretended he was his girlfriend! in my opinion, he was the 2nd worse spammer in all of the forum, cookie if a non staff member gets the first!(note: its probably not who you think it is if you've been around more than say, 6 months

Nah, Zulian was the worst. However, this is completely off-topic.
