Re: Terminator or Transformers?
LIke I said, watch the first one!
Note: For some reason I'm being suckered into seeing Ice Age 3. (I have a little sister, remember)
I do happen to like the Ice Age series, but Ice Age 3 could never compare to Transformers or Terminator.
Life sucks.
Oh well, I'll live.

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
all they said is 'critics say that ice age is better than star trek and terminator combined!' i do want to know which critic it was though. probably someone who has never even seen ST or Terminator.

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
not really, ST was mediocre and terminator was pretty bad. if ice age is good, it's better than both combined. sometimes animated movies are better than normal movies, especially this summer (it's like a media drought, both games and movies are extra sucky this summer). hell, according to reviews, up! (animated movie from pixar) kicked transformers, terminator and ST's combined gigantic arse.

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
the graphics might make it look like it's made for kids, but sometimes the story is good enough for adults (i heard up! was about an old guy who lost his wife and tries to escape from the pain by connecting his house to a bunch of baloons and flying around, and some scout kid came along somehow, and he goes on a journey of self exploration with the scout) and whacky/ funny enough for kids (connecting the house to baloons, the fat scout kid panicking all the time and the adorable graphics).

Yeah, I took my little sister to see that too.Thingy wrote:the graphics might make it look like it's made for kids, but sometimes the story is good enough for adults (i heard up! was about an old guy who lost his wife and tries to escape from the pain by connecting his house to a bunch of baloons and flying around, and some scout kid came along somehow, and he goes on a journey of self exploration with the scout) and whacky/ funny enough for kids (connecting the house to baloons, the fat scout kid panicking all the time and the adorable graphics).
That movie was enjoyable for people of all ages.
Well, the dogs in fighter planes was a bit much, but other than that, it was pretty good.
Actually, the movie was a little sad.
The moral of the story was to be satisfied with what you have, and to enjoy the little things. Well, at least that's what I got out of it.
I suggest you see it when it comes out on DVD.

you are just trying to find ways to annoy me aren't you? somebody should take you up against a wall and beat you. Ice Age is only really interesting if you see it in #d, and even then it doesn't compare to Star Trek. Star Trek had just the right blend of action comedy, story and character, and it is now one of my all time favourite movies because it just plain and simply worked beautifully. if you're thinking Ice Age is better then Trek, then I feel very, very sorry for you
Re: Terminator or Transformers?
I havent really seen ice age, i said star trek was mediocre (which, except for the freaking eye and eargasmic special effect and sounds, it was) and terminator was bad, so if it's good, it's better than both. And take it easy, it's just a movie, not a freaking world event that will change the entire course of humanity and guide us into a new golden age of peace, love, cookies and strawberry pies. If i thought ice age 3 is better than ST, it just means i have a different taste in movies.

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
Immature suggestion not posted.
But otherwise, that is a good question.ST was awesome, better then the others as it was actually just like TOS.

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
Children of men. it's got the perfect combination of darkness, hope, blood, realism (ALOT of realism), real world issues (it touched alot of real world issues) and music. I dont think you'd like it though. But like i said, it's all about taste, and it seems we have very different tastes in movies.

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
no, i didn't like it very much. see, in my opinion, pretty much anything that gets an 18A rating isn't worth seeing. I watch movies for entertainment, why on earth should I want realism? believability yes, but utter realism no. i have to live with utter realism everyday of my life, and i'm sick and tired of world issues cause it's plastered all over the news and the internet. movies i use as an escape, so i don't want to escape into realism.
Re: Terminator or Transformers?
Yeah, that's generally the point of movies. To escape reality, not to watch a documentary for several hours.
And world issues is just annoying, the only thing I care about is whether or not America employs its "Nuke and forget" outlook when run and gun doesn't work.

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
well, children of men was all right, i had it confused with another movie when i did the last post, but it just wasn't something i'd watch everyday. children of men was good, but definately doesn't make it to fav movie list for me
Re: Terminator or Transformers?
Me neither.
I don't even know what my favorite film is though.

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
see, i can see why thingy doesn't really like Trek, it was too optimistic for him. Thingy is one who believes in chaos, and pessimism. He sees absolutely no hope for things and thus likes to see that in his movies. It's becoming very common with a lot of movie-goers. that's why a good portion of films as of late are darker and more pessimistic.
Re: Terminator or Transformers?
so whats your take on comedies? definitly can use as an escape, not too realistic, and believable

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
Exactly, like i said, it's a matter of taste. I like realism, although that's not a requirement for a movie to be good. And children wasnt something ripped right out of the headlines, if it was about a soldier in afghanistan fighting the war on terror or something like that, it would be plastered all over the news. This one was realistic, touched real world issues but didnt feel like they just ripped it right out of a newspaper.

- Spoiler:
What the hell are you talking about? Optimistic? Vulcan got destroyed, only a couple thousands survived, romulus got destroyed and only a few thousand survived there too and an entire federation fleet got completely destroyed with no survivors and for no purpose at all. And i'm not pessimistic or chaotic, just not very optimistic and mainstream (or whatever you call it), which is no wonder considering all the crap i've been through the last 10 years. I actually dont like extremely dark movies, i dont watch it if there's no hope at all in it.

Re: Terminator or Transformers?
well, the film was still optimistic though, even though vulcan is destroyed, there's hope for a new vulcan, it has now made the vulcan's a much tighter community now that they are all that's left. as for the fed fleet, it was only 7 ships, it's expected that people get blown up in an outer space sci-fi movie such as trek. if it didn't have these dramatic points, then it would have been that happy cheery film that i described earlier as to disliking. just because a film is optimistic, doesn't mean it can't have drama.
Re: Terminator or Transformers?
Yes, a new vulcan with a few thousand inhabitants, and in the procces of making them a more tightly knitted society, made them nearly extinct and killed a few billion (or trillion, cant remember...) vulcans. Anyways, i'm gonna say it's mediocre and leave it at that. Debate wont make it less mediocre.
