Decisions Empty Decisions

Post by Darkwing 2009-01-25, 01:57

I have a decision to make, and it's been bothering me for some days now. A little history first\

I am graduating High School this year, and a friend of mine got me to join up on the yearbook. So I was designing it, and was supposed to have help, but nobody bothered to help. So, I was designing things and stuff, and we were showing some of the designs off, asking the student body if they liked or disliked, and for the most part they were saying yes. Now mind you in all of this there are certain deadlines to meet. So December hits, 2 months after the cover deadline. All of a sudden, some idiot from our school goes on facebook and starts an anti-cover design. A big thing goes down of petitions and all that. So I left the yearbook at the top of december. I wasn't going to work for a bunch of mindless hypocrits, who at first said yay, but were now saying nay. So I wiped my hands clean of that. Now, a friend of mine who was on the yearbook comes to me the other day, and says that nothing has been desinged since i left, and they have 44 pages due on february 14. The yearbook committee has not worked on the book at all, and keep procrastinating, and it seems those who can use the software, are unwilling to commit and be a designer. SO my friend without the approval or consultation of the yearbook group, is beggin me to come back, otherwise there won't be a yearbook this year. Now here's the thing, I thought I had wiped my hands clean of this, they rest of them probably don't want me back, I don't want to be the hero who saves the day, cause then i'm the hypocrit, and I have to decide all of this before monday, meaning tomorrow i have to decide, because it seems I am the only one capable of doing this (though it's hard to believe that out of a school of 1000 people, nobody else can use inDesign?) Thoughts anybody?

simple what I would do is seperate the aspects of the problim and solve them one by one.

and you kinda have to go back to do school work to morro and be there for bethany because reuben left her. and I have screwed up big time in another way.

DW just do the logical thing.

Ignore Jtull.

Tell the yearbook comitee that you will help. If they say no, then let the whole school know it is because of the comittee that they will have no yearbook. Something might change because of public attitude, but most probably they will just have eggs thrown at them.

Though of course I can't tell you exactly what to do. You know the school and the people involved, and I don't know how important a yearbook is supposed to be, as we don't have them here.

I agree with shem, say yes and if they dont want to let you in, let people know it was their fault that the yearbook didnt get finished because of them.

but is it me satisfying my conscious? i mean, I just left, and I didn't tie up any loose ends. Oh, and a problem is that it's no exam time, so I have almost no way to communicate, and if i were to get stuff done in time, i would have to spend this week at school working on it (i only have one exam, so I have almost the whole week off)

Well, if you don't have time for it, just tell them that.

Don't stick your neck out for their mistakes.

I don't think you should concern yourself with their problems.

Tell them that you already served your time in yearbook, and that you aren't interested in working with a group of backstabbers.

Well, that's what I would do if I were you.

It hardly helps that there's only one person that's willing to work hard within an entire group of people that are largely too lazy to work on the yearbook. Either way, I don't think much is going to get done.
