I thought that this might be interesting to ask. What are your views of the future? (I don’t care if it is 10 years from now or 200 Wink )

For humanity, if we stay this way, we're screwed even if we disover FTL travel and other species, if we change, well, we might have a chance. That is if we dont destroy ourselves before humans get outside earth orbit or farther than the moon, which probably is gonna happen because everyone seems to be developing nukes and getting more easily pissed off at other countrys.

For me, well i dont really care.

And did you know there's this thing called ''atmosphere'' to destroy the smaller ones and '' spacecraft/weapons'' to push back/destroy the bigger ones. And last time i checked, dinosaurs didnt have nukes and space craft. Plus we're advanced both biologicly and technologicly,we'll survive till it's over if our weapons and other techs wont help. Also, NASA and EU are developing an anti asteroid method.

Yeah but we'll see it a few months before it hits which gives us time to both bunker down and start an emergency program to get rid of it. And another reason not to compare us with the dinos: their brains were the size of walnuts max, ours are some of the most advanced on earth (some of the most advanced that we have discovered). Or at least most of us....*thinks about george bush*

i think humans are more thrifty than previously thought. The desire to exist is a very powerful motivator. Most of the time i think humans will find a way to overcome problems.

What if a gigantic one hit the moon and parts of it broke of and hit the earth?

@ Stryker that’s the problem, nations arm their nukes in order to survive from other nations. When one worries the other, the other one launches their nukes in order to survive.

First, I think that all nations know (or hope) that when they fire the first nuke, its a man made armageddon. The nation hopefully wont fire because it knows it will be destroying the world.

and second if the moon were to split like that then humans would have a very good chance of being annihilated.

YEs, that's called Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD)

Oh, and that's also a pretty fun flash game!

That's why I don't support any nation having nuclear weapons. They're useless, because you can't fire them and they're just taking up space, and they pretty much can't be disposed of. Not worth having, really.

Well...actually they are, if a nation doesnt have nukes, it cant threaten/attack another that has them because for some reason it's afraid of them (i dont really understand why, almost all the countrys with nukes are civilized and the government would be overthrown if they killed millions of people in some not so advanced country...) but if it's big country vs big country they're just as useless as rocks but i dont support them either, if a country decides to try hitting the other before the other can react, we're pretty much screwed.

That's the thing; a nation can never fire its nuclear weapons unless another nation fires its nukes directly at said nation. Besides, there are other ways to threaten a nation other than through warfare.

OMG. you are so F...ing IGNORANT.

did you know that the chance of a fatal asteroid hitting the earth is smaller than 1/(10^9)???
Besides, have you ever heard ANYONE (beside the victims themselves of course) protest against Hiroshima and Nagasaki? No, of course not.

besides, if somebody fires their nukes, it will all be too late anyway. if WW3 started now, it could be over before you finished coffee.

No, no one has had first hand experience with nukes except the nagasaki/hiroshima victims but we were very close to MAD several times, like the cuban missile crisis and the norwegian (or was it denmark...?) science missile incident. What would happen if we got into another cold war/war or terrorists/bad countrys stole/developed nukes? sure, they've maybe prevented india attacking pakistan and the other way around but what if pakistan's next president is a little messed up in the head?
