Ever since the sun Terra Alpha went nova, decimating earth, mercury, Venus and mars, the Terra systems has had to rely on the resources of their colonies and the Nimwarian Union. Throughout the crisis, Terrans have kept their republic of free planets running smoothly, but when a research fleet comprised of the Exelcia class USS Chicago and defense cruiser USS wildfire, along with a Nimwarian Warhawk and three nimwarian reethar class light cruisers and a nimwarian design-Cinarian Battlehawk escort, were searching Mercury's ruins when an unknown power source destroys the battlehawk and damages the USS Chicago's subspace drive. AS the rest of the fleet phases into subspace to bring the elite Wraith fleet to destroy it when a ship from an ancient, powerful species, the Carbidian, on which most technology is based on, a Carbide heavy destroyer places a subspace obelisk right as they get away, leaving Captain Dave Terra and the rest of the crew of the USS Chicago to face a living myth from trader lore...
