Latin is a dead and mostly useless language. Unless you're planning to work as a Catholic priest of something of that sort.

Honestly. it's very useful. I can understand quite a lot of most western european languages- the Portugese raffitz and JPB speaks is fairly similar in a basic sort of way, and so is Spanish, French and Italian.

Or, if you are to become a doctor. (All of the medical terms are either in Greek, or Latin.)

True, but not useful enough.

But, the Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian languages all have cognates. Well, English has some too.

So, if you know one of the Latin based languages, it's pretty easy to learn another one.

@DJ: But it's easier to learn the common root of all those languages than try and learn the sinilarities of the results.

I actually have learned Latin. I can tell you, it is VERY useful, even when you're only learning other languages. may it be known that about 50% of the worlds dominant languages are actually derived from Latin.

yea I agree. I wonder if it works with computer languages too, if you know binary is it easy to learn DOS and etc? Razz

well, I do know that working with gamemaker definitely had effect on my VB abilities, and VB had effect again on flash, and later, HTML, so...

Oh, and Javascript looks very similar to flash actionscript. So, it will probably be pretty easy for me to learn.
