Weapons? Empty Weapons?

Well, im new to the forum, but ive been playing BM and BMII for a while, but i dont know how to equip weapons to my ship without quiting the game and going back to the editor. I cant find the "equip slot" icon. it gets tiresome after a while. If anyone has an answer, I will definately appreciate it.
